The Dutch heat transition is in full swing. New heating companies and heating network initiatives are springing up all over the country. The next step is to move much faster from planning to implementation. That is what this Bonanza is all about. We bring together frontrunners such as municipalities, experts, and companies from the heating network sector to stimulate cooperation, accelerate innovation, and really get the transition up to speed. Fryslân embraces the Danish approach and is thus helping to pave a new Dutch route to sustainable, affordable collective heating. This opens the door to collaborations that will help shape the future of heat networks.
Everyone driving the transition is there.
Municipalities, governments, policymakers, and heating companies (existing and in formation) from across the Netherlands
Leading Danish consulting firms and suppliers: from planning and design to pipes, pumps, and heat production, everything needed to develop, build, and manage a district heating network.
About Confidence
Confidence is an international collaboration between Dutch municipalities, Danish partners, and European experts. We accelerate the development of heat networks by sharing knowledge, testing approaches, and building confidence in sustainable and affordable heating solutions.
“Bonanzais a sudden windfall of wealth or opportunity.
For us, it represents a flood of ideas, collaboration, and momentum—exactly what the energy transition needs right now.”
This was Confidence '25
Confidence brought together pioneers, professionals, and policymakers to address a single question: How can we make heat networks feasible, transparent, and scalable? The event featured insights from both the Netherlands and abroad, and provided an opportunity to learn from one another.
Program and tickets
We’ll be announcing all the speakers and the program soon. You’ll be able to purchase your tickets right here on this page. In the meantime, we can give you a sneak peek of each day.
Monday, November 2 - Confidence Action
Take a walk through the streets of Bolsward and experience district heating networks in action. See where the pipes will be laid and where the energy center will be located, while experts who worked on the Bolsward project bring it to life for you. This is your chance to experience a project that has been thoroughly planned but has yet to be built. We’ll take the drawings, the words, and the theory out into the field. We’ll provide the district heating expertise, and hopefully nature will provide the good weather.
PLEASE NOTE: Space for this event is limited. Want to join us? Register as soon as possible. You’ll receive a confirmation if you’re selected for this tour.
Tuesday, November 3 - Building Confidence
The event for everyone working on how to get district heating networks off the ground in the Netherlands. You’ll be sharing the room with municipalities, policymakers, consultants, and government agencies. The program covers strategy, financing, public ownership, and what we can learn from Denmark about moving from planning to implementation, supplemented by plenty of Dutch insights. Keynotes, in-depth workshops, and a networking session where meaningful conversations are guaranteed.
Wednesday, November 4 - Confident by Design
It’s time to put your knowledge into practice. This event is for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the technology and planning involved. Spend a day in Leeuwarden and talk with Dutch and Danish experts. The program covers the technical and financial details: how a district heating network actually works, what it costs and why, how to design for low-temperature systems, the options for heat storage and procurement, and more.
